What to check when you compare a double cab

The Changan Hunter is a double cab bakkie sold in two diesel models from R449 900. Both use a 2.0 litre turbodiesel producing 110kW and 350Nm, carry 226mm of ground clearance with 28 degree approach and 27 degree departure angles, and run a 1 520 x 1 520 x 500mm load bed. The 2WD manual carries a 1 100kg payload and uses 7.1 litres per 100km; the 4WD auto carries 1 020kg, uses 9.1 litres per 100km and adds a rear differential lock. Both have a gross combination mass of 5 080kg, an 80 litre tank, disc brakes all round and a full size spare. Every Hunter carries a 5 year or 150 000km warranty and 24 hour Changan roadside assistance.

How much can the Changan Hunter tow?

Gross combination mass is 5 080kg on both models, against a GVM of 3 050kg for the 2WD and 3 080kg for the 4WD. GCM is the ceiling for vehicle and trailer together; ask the dealership for the rated braked towing figure for your intended use.

Does the Changan Hunter have a diff lock?

A rear differential lock is standard on the 2.0 AT 4WD. It is not fitted to the 2WD manual.

What is the Changan Hunter fuel consumption?

The 2WD Manual carries 80kg more payload and uses 2 litres less fuel per 100km.

What warranty and service plan does the Changan Hunter come with?

A 5 year or 150 000km warranty on both models. The 5 year or 90 000km service plan is standard on the 4WD Auto and optional on the 2WD Manual. Service intervals are 15 000km with a first inspection at 5 000km or six months, and an optional maintenance plan is available across the Hunter diesel range.
